The Village of Massay
Village de Massay
The village is dominated by its church, once part of an 8th century Benedictine abbey.
The chapter house, tithe barn, dormitory and cellars still remain. The better preserved parts of the abbey
are now used to house regular art exhibitions.
expositions artistiques.
Like most villages and towns, Massay has its own weekly market. Every Wednesday morning in the square,
traders sell fruit and veg, meat, fish and flowers.
Inside Massay's village shops
Massay has a number of little family run shops and businesses including a butcher and delicatesen,
a bar/tabac, a grocer, a bakers, a chemist and a restaurant.

O Pescador is Massay’s restaurant.
It serves good but inexpensive French
food. Open from Wednesday to
Sunday.
Families are made welcome.
For those who like farm produce, Massay also has a goat farm selling
hand-made cheese and a dairy farm selling fresh untreated milk.
There is also the man who is famous for making delicious
honey who just happens to have an obsession with restoring vintage
cars.
